Greetings!
The Solar System was our focus for both ELA and science. We read and wrote about outer space, and watched some fascinating clips about planetary exploration. The kids were spellbound and many brought a wealth of background knowledge to discussions.
The kids have planet report forms for an assignment, but I am attaching one here for, perhaps, some lazy summer day. Each student really enjoyed gathering information about one planet but, if you'd like, there are seven or sorta eight others to explore.
This evening is our Spring Concert and Art Exhibit. The kids are expected to be here at 530 p.m. The show starts at 6. Third graders will convene in our classrooms prior to show time. I got a preview of their performance so expect a cute show.
Next week is MAP testing. Home activities like eating a balanced breakfast and getting a full night’s sleep, of course, will support an accurate assessment. I expect all students will perform very well.
On that note, too, please continue to follow your child’s reading log progress. Remember that we are trying to avoid a summer slump in reading proficiency. So, thank you for diligently signing off on your bookworm’s efforts.
See you soon,
Mr. Johnson
