Greetings!

We have started our next writing unit which focuses on a research paper. At this stage, Ms. Faye and I are helping the kids value “narrow” topics instead of “broad” ones. Please ask your child about her or his topic and whether it is indeed broad or narrow.

Next week, we will start take-home reading logs. We will use the logs over the fourth quarter. There will be three entries per week. I will video record the instructions and post them next Friday. For now, keep in mind that for most students the logs will favor RAZ-Kids. Following the log schedule, with RAZ-Kids or not, will build momentum for summer reading. This coming week I will demonstrate in class how fun and interesting RAZ-Kids can be. The non-fiction titles can be especially interesting. Remember that my RAZ-Kids ID is djohnson297. The content is always expanding. Have a look.

Our lower school science fair is on May 6. The kids know what to do at this point. In short, we will be promoting public transportation as a way to reduce the ill health effects of road traffic. The instructions are also here in the Counting Cars video.

Our field trip to Le Reve in Bassam was informative and really well run. Tip-of-the-hat to Mr. Wittig for setting up the trip. We were able to see math, science, social studies and language arts in action. ICSA father Mr. Bedi and his Le Reve team did a marvelous job showing us this beautiful community development.

That’s all for now. Enjoy this week's many photos.

As always, keep safe,

Mr. Johnson
